There’s Christmas misery in prospect for some estate agency staff this year, as EYE has learned that a redundancy process is under way at loss-making Purplebricks.

EYE understands that a 28 day consultation process started with just 24 hours notice to those affected.

It is believed that the LPA roles may be outsourced to Viewber – which bills itself as ‘The Big Bold Property Support Company’.

The news comes just over a year since Purplebricks laid off nearly 15% of its workforce in October 2024.

Purplebricks issued the following statement:

“Purplebricks are evolving the way we support customers and making our service even better. Some 48 local property agents’ roles are at risk, but we have created 55 new roles they are being encouraged to apply for.  We are making every effort to redeploy staff and keep redundancies to a minimum.”

Purplebricks issued this enhanced statement at 1310hrs today:

Purplebricks are evolving the way we support customers and making our service even better. This may include changes to our partnership with Viewber to further enhance viewing availability. As a result, 48 Local Property Agent roles have been placed at risk while we enter a consultation period.

We have created 55 new roles across the business and are working closely with colleagues to support them in exploring and applying for these opportunities. Our priority is to minimise redundancies wherever possible.
