La Quinta Resort Unveils Updates, Just in Time for Summer

If you plan right, keep the refreshments flowing and pick the right accommodations, summer in the desert can be a real dream. Lucky for all of us, La Quinta Resort & Club’s latest updates have arrived just in time for pool season (which is also golf and spa season, if we’re being honest).

Spanning 45 acres with 42 pools, 21 tennis courts, 8 pickleball courts, and access to five world-class golf courses, a full-service spa, plus several onsite restaurants, La Quinta sets the standard as a distinctive desert resort.  Now, nearly 100 years after opening its doors (first founded in 1926 by San Francisco businessman Walter H. Morgan) La Quinta Resort & Club has completed a renovation that encompassed improvements throughout the property.

Here’s a rundown of the latest updates and see a selection of local listings that will put you minutes from this legendary Palm Springs retreat.

Upon arrival, guests pass through a long driveway lined with palm trees and blossoming cherry red geraniums and bougainvillea to find the lobby, where hand-painted tiles, travertine fireplaces, and vintage photographs celebrate the resort’s rich history. In the guest rooms, refreshed, brighter interiors blend classic charm with sleek, contemporary updates.

Grab a golf cart to explore the grounds and see The Grove, a newly unveiled outdoor venue with towering palms and panoramic views of the Santa Rosa Mountains.

The Grove.

Nearby is Plunge at Renker Pool, a new adults-only space with infinity-edge pools, climate-controlled cabanas, ample loungers and a grab-and-go café. Stop in for a respite or settle in for the day—the vibe is cool and stylishly relaxed.

When the sun sets, head to Morgan’s in the Desert, La Quinta’s signature steakhouse, which has also gotten a refresh with a redesigned interior and bar. New regionally inspired dishes sourced from local purveyors will take center stage—from braised short ribs and artichoke ragout to juicy California-raised Jidori chicken served with Coachella Valley-grown beets. Hot tip: Stick around after a meal for live piano music and a lively after-hours vibe.
