While there is always a good reason to visit the sun-kissed landscapes of Southern California, the Palm Springs area presents its own unique opportunities for buyers seeking the resort-style escapism that the desert is known for. To learn more about current trends and new listings, we spoke with The Agency Greater Palm Springs’ Managing Director, Jennifer Drummond.
“Today, we’re seeing continued demand from buyers coming from Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, and out-of-state markets such as Texas and the Pacific Northwest, “ says Jennifer. “Many of whom are drawn to the desert for more space, privacy, and resort-like amenities. Add in our incredible weather—particularly during the winter months when communities often enjoy 70 to 80-degree temperatures—and it’s easy to see why outdoor living and activities become even more appealing here.”
With remote and hybrid work increasing flexibility, more people have been drawn to the desert, where residents can work and play with ever-increasing ease. Golf and tennis remain the most popular outdoor activities, with country clubs and exclusive communities seeing an influx of popularity and growing wait lists, especially as facilities continue to upgrade and modernize their offerings.
There’s also strong and consistent second (and even third) home demand throughout the area, notes Jennifer. “Inventory remains especially tight in the top luxury neighborhoods, where turnover has slowed,” she says, “As a result, when a high-quality home comes to market, competition is often immediate.”
Let’s take a closer look at what’s currently available in the Palm Desert area, from sleek modernist living to Spanish-style estates.
