The Agency Austin team recently hosted a Build Day with Austin Habitat for Humanity at their affordable housing project in Travis County. Located in East Austin, this project, once completed, will consist of six duplex buildings, creating 12 new homes for local families in need, 11 of which are designated for single mothers in Austin. The development is slated for completion in 2024.
Held on May 30th and led by Ana Ruelas, Managing Partner of The Agency Austin, this event marked The Agency’s 37th Build Day. The team’s hard work and dedication significantly impacted this meaningful project, and their efforts will help provide stable housing for families in need in Austin.
During the Build Day, 15 volunteers got to work applying protective covers to the floors in preparation for drywall installation and measured, cut, and installed board and batten trim/millwork on the front and side porches.
Kudos are due to Christine White, Chris Peña, Alondra Cantu, and Christian Hellmund for arriving early and maintaining high energy and enthusiasm throughout the day. A special shout-out goes to Alex Martinez, Managing Partner of The Agency D.C. Metro, who flew in with his daughter, Ella, to support the efforts.
“I was incredibly proud to be part of this Build Day in collaboration with Giveback Homes. Leading this build alongside my team has been a profoundly rewarding experience,” said Ana Ruelas. “Seeing the dedication and unselfish contributions of my colleagues at The Agency Austin has been both humbling and inspiring. It’s a reminder of the significant impact we can make when we unite for a common cause, and I am grateful for the opportunity to uplift local families in such a meaningful way.” Ana is also part of Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build Network 10X10 Initiative—email Ana at ana.r@theagencyre.com to learn more and to support her involvement.
