The Agency’s Miami area team headed to the nearby city of Homestead for a Build Day with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami—coming together to help construct the very first home in the new Habitat Acres community.

Habitat Acres, located just south of Miami, will soon offer 150 affordable 3- and 4-bedroom townhomes with 0% interest mortgages and no down payments for qualifying families—a life-changing opportunity for many in the area.

Our boots-on-the-ground team, including The Agency’s Founder and CEO Mauricio Umansky and Principal Santiago Arana, had the privilege of working on Building #17, the first to rise in this new neighborhood. Volunteers spent the day cutting, measuring, and securing wood slabs, assembling walls and door frames, and gaining a hands-on understanding of the precision and strength that go into building something from the ground up.

The home our agents and colleagues helped build will soon belong to a local woman and her two adult children—one of whom, a recent Florida International University graduate, was on-site to help.

“Home is truly so important. Helping to create it for someone else is one of the most meaningful things you can do,” said Santiago. “I am so grateful that The Agency and Giveback Homes are supporting this new community here in Homestead; it’s going to be a wonderful place for so many families.”

“Giving back is core to who The Agency is as a company,” added Mauricio. “Seeing how much this new home means to families like Rhonda’s is humbling. Having a place to call your own is powerful. And it can be life-changing.“
