Nazanin Safavi is a dynamic force in Los Angeles, making significant strides as an environmental health and safety engineer, a real estate entrepreneur, and an influential figure in the Persian community. Her passion for keeping the environment safe, coupled with her expertise in luxury real estate, makes her a standout in her industries. Originally from Tehran, Nazanin moved to Los Angeles in 2004, and since then, has been making an impact in both environmental engineering and high-end real estate. Real Estate Watch™ had the opportunity to sit down with Nazanin to discuss her journey, motivations, and what continues to drive her success.

Nazanin, what motivated you to become an engineer?

Nazanin: My motivation came from my deep-seated passion for keeping the world and environment clean and safe. From a young age, I was fascinated by how things work and how to improve them. As I grew older, I realized that engineering would allow me to make a real impact by preventing workplace accidents and environmental damage. I found the field of environmental health and safety particularly appealing because it let me blend my love of science and technology with a desire to contribute positively to the world. Through engineering, I gained the skills and knowledge needed to address environmental and safety risks and work toward a healthier world for everyone.

What was the key to achieving your success?

Nazanin: Good question. I believe the key to success is a combination of drive, determination, and passion. Hard work and never giving up have been crucial elements of my journey. If you genuinely believe in yourself and put in the work, you can achieve your goals and make a significant impact on the world. I’ve also learned that adaptability, openness to learning, and genuine engagement with people are essential components of sustained success.

When you first moved to Los Angeles in 2004, did you face any challenges?

Nazanin: Absolutely. Moving to Los Angeles presented several challenges. I was in a completely new country, adjusting to a new culture, and didn’t know the city. Professionally, it was challenging to establish myself in a new environment. But I had a clear vision for what I wanted to achieve, and that helped me push through those difficulties. My determination, drive, and passion helped me succeed in my community. I had no choice but to face those challenges head-on and work towards my goals.

Tell us about your journey into the real estate market. How did you make the shift from engineering?

Nazanin: My journey into real estate began while I was studying at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). I realized that I had a keen interest in the Los Angeles real estate market, especially the multi-family home market in the San Fernando Valley. I decided to take the California real estate exam and became a part-time realtor. My passion for helping families find their dream homes and introducing investors to lucrative opportunities drove my success in real estate. Today, I work closely with developers to launch new properties and specialize in luxury homes across exclusive neighborhoods like Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Malibu, and Calabasas. It’s been a rewarding journey to help people realize their dreams through real estate.

What are your main goals now, both professionally and personally?

Nazanin: Professionally, my main goal is to continue working in environmental health and safety, focusing on preventing accidents and mitigating environmental damage in Los Angeles. It’s important to ensure that companies operate in a way that protects both people and the environment. In real estate, I want to continue growing my career, introducing buyers and investors to prime properties in high-end neighborhoods, including luxury complexes and exclusive gated communities. On a personal level, I’m also dedicated to contributing to my community, whether by supporting local causes or mentoring the next generation of aspiring professionals.

You’re known for being a respected socialite and brand ambassador in Los Angeles. Can you tell us more about your involvement in the community?

Nazanin: I’m honored to be an ambassador for the Oscar Viewing Gala produced by the Samira Network, which is led by Samira Kazemeni, a renowned producer and television host in Hollywood. I also attend many important events in Los Angeles, like fashion shows, art gallery openings, and gatherings celebrating Persian talent. I think being part of the community and celebrating our culture is crucial—not just for building connections but also for inspiring others and supporting one another. It’s incredibly fulfilling to be involved in these activities, and it brings me great joy to be part of the Persian community here in Los Angeles.

What advice do you have for young entrepreneurs who are starting in the business world?

Nazanin: My advice is simple: follow your passion. Choose a career that you are genuinely excited about, and make sure you equip yourself with the necessary skills and knowledge—never underestimate the value of education and training. It’s also important to find a mentor who can guide you. Don’t give up easily, stay persistent, and be ready to face challenges. Make a positive impact on your community and the environment. Also, be proactive, communicate effectively, and build a solid network. Lastly, stay up to date with the latest technology and trends in your industry, and continuously adapt to the changing market. Success comes from a combination of these qualities, and a desire to make a real difference.

Nazanin, you truly are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
